Cross Country Set to Return to Action at Ted Owen Invitational


NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Hartford men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to nearby New Britain, Conn., to compete in the Ted Owen Invitational hosted by CCSU. The races will take place at Stanley Quarter Park, with the women’s 5k kicking off the meet at 11 a.m., while the men follow with the 8k at 11:45 a.m.

  • The Hawks are back in action for the first time in 14 days, last competing at the Nassaney Invitational on Sept. 10

  • Sophomore Riley Brutvan and junior Abby O’Connor led the Hawks across the line in their respective races

  • Senior Hailey Marcello took home a top-10 finish, racing to ninth overall in a time of 19:20.6

 
HISTORY LESSON

  • Hartford last competed in the Ted Owen Invitational in 2019
  • The men finished eighth in the team standings, while the women finished sixth in a field of 19 teams
  • The men were led by Cole Cayer who finished the 8k in 27:54.3, while the women were paced by Grace Furlong, finishing the 5k in 19:38.1

 
NEXT ON TAP
The Hawks go on an extended three-week hiatus, returning to action at the VertCross hosted by High Point on Oct. 14. The event is set to take place at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, N.C.
