Fabio Quartararo ready for dry weather race, but has doubts about rear tyre

This Friday, the first free practice for the Japanese GP took place with virtually no rain – a scenario that could be repeated in Sunday’s race, although rain is forecast for tomorrow. Fabio Quartararo feels ready for a dry race.

Asked if he is prepared for a dry race scenario, the Monster Energy Yamaha Frenchman replied in the affirmative, whilst admitting he still has doubts over his choice of rear tyre:

– Yes. We will need to analyse very carefully which tyre to use. I think the front is very clear, the rear is not. Because the soft one seems to have some more performance, we need to see how much it breaks. The medium seems good, I think our pace was very reasonable. But I’m prepared.

It is worth remembering that in FP1 at Motegi, Quartararo set the third-fastest time. He was 49 thousandths off the fastest time set by Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) ahead of team-mate Jack Miller.
