Wiz Khalifa, ‘Architectural Digest’ Open Door King

Some of this fall’s biggest contests are on the horizon: Will Steven Spielberg’s semi-autobiographical The Fabelmans win an Oscar? Can Democrats maintain control of the Senate? You will have to wait for the answers to those questions, but thankfully, more urgent matters have already been settled: Wiz Khalifa showing us around his $4.6 million Mediterranean-style mansion is officially the most watched Architectural Digest Open Door of all time. (Sorry, Dakota Johnson’s limes.)

Does this matter? No. Do we know why a brokerage called RubyHome compiled this information? No. Does it intrigue us? Yes. While more recent tours have the manicured feel of a real-estate listing (which they are, more or less), Khalifa’s six-bedroom home, filmed in 2018, seems almost normal. There is a messy heap of Legos in his son’s playroom. It looks like people actually sit in his living room. Its most notable feature is his 100-joint roller. (He could smoke them in three days, he estimates.)

I have consulted our nation’s top scholars and can’t figure out who Zedd is, but the video of his minimally styled Benedict Canyon home placed second. Jessica Alba’s “Parisian-inspired” $10 million Beverly Hills mansion came in third. She says she designed it by spending “a lot of time on Pinterest.” Now she has her own home-renovation show on the Roku Channel. Brava, Jessica!

But the most shocking revelation is what didn’t make the cut. Kendall Jenner’s Clements-designed Beverly Hills home is the only Kardashian property to rank. Was it her custom James Turrell that earned her the views or her musings on interior design? “I had a really white kitchen in my last home,” Jenner said while showing off her emerald-green cabinets, “which can be so beautiful.” So true, Kendall!
